Terms of service
Last updated: [DATE OF LAST UPDATE]
These terms cover the work we do for you. We'll also confirm the specifics of each job in a written quote before starting; where a quote and these terms disagree, the quote wins.
What we do
We provide two services to small businesses:
- Websites — design, build, and launch, with optional monthly care
- Business systems — reviewing how your business runs, then setting up and connecting the tools that make it run better, with optional monthly support
Where possible we use software you already have or already pay for. We build something custom only when nothing simpler will do, and we'll tell you clearly if that's the case before quoting.
Quotes and prices
Every job is quoted at a fixed price, agreed in writing before work starts. The quote sets out what's included and what isn't. Quotes are valid for 30 days.
Anything outside the agreed scope is quoted separately — we won't add charges to an invoice without agreeing them with you first.
Payment
- Jobs under [DEPOSIT THRESHOLD]: payable in full before work begins
- Jobs of [DEPOSIT THRESHOLD] or more: 50% deposit before work begins, the balance on completion
- Invoices are payable within 7 days
- Work is scheduled from the date your deposit clears
- Your website goes live, or your system is handed over, once the final invoice is paid
If an invoice is unpaid after 21 days, we may pause work and any services we're hosting for you until it's settled.
What we need from you
For website work, you supply the words, images, and any logins we need, by the date agreed in the quote. If that content is more than 10 working days late, we may pause the project and reschedule it behind other work.
You're responsible for making sure content you give us is accurate, lawful, and yours to use.
Revisions
Each website build includes [NUMBER] round(s) of revisions. Further changes are quoted separately.
Monthly plans
Monthly care and support plans are optional — you don't have to take one to have us build your website or set up your systems.
- Site care covers hosting, backups, security updates, and a set allowance of small changes each month. Unused time doesn't roll over.
- Systems care covers support, small adjustments, and your monthly figures.
- Plans run monthly and can be cancelled with 30 days' notice.
- New features, redesigns, and larger pieces of work are not included in a monthly plan and are quoted separately.
Ownership and handover
Everything we build for you is yours.
- Your domain is registered in your name from day one.
- Any software accounts or subscriptions we set up are in your name, with us added as a user. You can remove our access at any time.
- On request, at any time, we'll hand over everything: your code, your files, and a written handover pack telling you where everything lives and how to manage it.
- If you cancel a monthly plan, we'll help you move your website to another host. Time spent beyond a straightforward handover is charged at our standard rate.
Your data
If we handle your business's data — customer details, financial records, or anything else — we'll only use it to do the work you've asked for, and we'll keep it secure. Accounts stay in your name so you keep control. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle data collected through this website.
What we don't do
We're not accountants, solicitors, or financial advisers. We can set up and automate the systems your business uses to keep records, but we don't provide bookkeeping, tax, legal, or financial advice, and nothing we produce should be treated as such. Where something needs a professional, we'll say so.
Liability
We'll do our work with reasonable skill and care. We can't be held responsible for problems outside our control — outages at your hosting or software providers, changes those providers make, or issues arising from content or information you've given us.
Our total liability for any job is limited to the amount you paid us for it.
Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law doesn't allow it.
Cancellation
If you cancel a job after work has started, the deposit is non-refundable and we may invoice for work completed up to that point.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
